Started fly fishing: My boyfriend is really into fly fishing, so I figured that I'd better learn how to throw a fly if I ever wanted to see him. I started learning last year and now I'm hooked.
Best day: We went to a wedding in Alaska last summer and
had a few extra days to ourselves, so we hit some local rivers.
I can't believe how many fish there are in Alaskan rivers - grayling,
char and rainbow trout took turns messing with me.
Favorite lake, river, or salt fishing spot: Since I just
started, the answer to this question will probably change several
times as I get better at fly fishing. I've spent a lot of time
fishing the South Platte River, so since this is the only place
I've really fished more than once, I'd have to call it my favorite.
The standout "trick" perfected to catch more fish:
I'm just a rookie, but I'm finding that patience is my biggest
plus right now.
Ideal trip of a lifetime: I bought my first fly fishing
magazine a couple of weeks ago, and read an article on bonefishing
in the Seychelle Islands. Nice place! I'd love to hang out on
the flats in a bikini and get a tan - if I can catch a bonefish,
then that's a bonus!
