Larry sportin' his first cutthroat - yeah baby!
|
Name: Larry Offner
City: Denham Springs, LA
Occupation: Engineer (and the man behind www.warmfly.com)
Why I fly fish: I started fly fishing five years ago.
I saw "The Movie" and just had to try fly fishing. I got hooked
up with a local Baton Rouge club (Red Stick Fly Fishers) and the
rest is history. I'm obsessed with the sport!
Best day: I recently went on a trip to Mountain Home, Arkansas.
It was my third coldwater fly fishing trip. On day one, near Bull
Shoals Dam, I caught my first ever cutthroat trout. It was also
the first time I had fished a dry fly! It was an incredible experience!
I caught the cutthroat on a #20 BWO. Over the next three days
we caught dozens of rainbow and cutthroat trout. Although I'm
a Louisiana boy surrounded by warm and saltwater there will be
many more coldwater trips in my future!
Favorite lake, river, or salt fishing spot: My favorite
place to fish is Lake Concordia. It's an oxbow lake located in
Ferriday, Louisiana. It's loaded with MONSTER bluegill. There
ain't nothing like a stump knocker bluegill on a 2 weight fly
rod! Yee-ha!
Trip of a lifetime: Trip of a lifetime? This will be
boring for most, but I want to fly fish out West. I want the stereotypical
trip to Montana. Wade fishing a clear stream with mountains in
the background…catching large trout!
