Name: Ron Thomas
City: Lake Charles, LA
Occupation: Future Fly Fishing Guide
Started fly fishing: I started fly fishing in Atlanta,
where I lived for four years. I was captured by the sport when
I saw a man standing in the Chattahoochee River casting. I stopped
and watched for a while, and with each cast he made, I became
more and more inspired. It was the art form that had an everlasting
impact.
Best day: The best time I've had fishing was on the White
River in Mountain Home, Arkansas. I hired a guide for the day,
and he mentioned that catching a "grand slam" would be the ultimate.
Well, I had the ultimate experience. I caught Rainbows, Browns,
Cutthroats and Brookies all in the same day on the White.
Favorite lake, river, or salt fishing spot: My favorite
Rivers are the Lower Mountain Fork in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. the
White and Norfork Rivers in Mountain Home, Arkansas and the Guadalupe
in Austin, Texas. My favorite salt spot is Belize, Central America.
Trip of a lifetime: My ideal trip would consist of camping
riverside and fishing the Kenai during the Salmon run for Salmon,
Rainbows and Dollys.
