Started fly fishing: I started fly fishing when I was
about 12; I had fished for years with my dad, and it was just
a natural continuation.
Best day: It's hard to have a bad day fishing, but my most
memorable was a yellow drake hatch on Kennebago Lake. My dad,
my brother and I spent a weekend at Grant's Camps, and that Saturday
night the three of us shared a Rangeley boat and just slayed aggressive
brookies on dries, up to 19". We stopped counting at 35 fish,
but that wasn't the best part...sharing an epic night with the
two of them was what fly fishing is all about for me.
Favorite lake, river, or salt fishing spot: The Kennebec
River here in Maine - you can start fishing its headwaters for
land-locked salmon and brookies and finish up hitting the mouth
for stripers, with miles and miles of big browns, rainbows and
smallmouth in between. It's hard to beat the variety...
Trip of a lifetime: Hard to say - so much to do, so little
time to do it. But next on my agenda is getting my dad and brother
to both take enough time off to do a big Western US swing. All
the usual Western haunts - no real plan, just a van, some gear
and go...
